On 24th February 2018, the world lost one of the biggest stars on this planet but a husband lost his wife, daughters lost their mother. The brightest star in the Bollywood was lost.
Sridevi was an actor par excellence she acted every role that she played, be it the crazy crime reporter Seema in Mr India, a middle-class Indian housewife ‘Shashi Godbole’ trying to find her place in her household in English vinglish or a mom ‘Devki’ trying to avenge her daughter in mom.
Being a 90s kid I have grown up watching a lot of movies in which Sridevi has acted be it Mr.India, Lamhe, Chandini etc. Watching her movies was somewhat like a family ritual for us. She was a superstar in the 80s and 90s and was a superstar even in this decade even after not being so active on the screen. A loving wife, a doting mother a superstar in every role that she played is no more with us.
Born on 13th august 1963 as shree amma yanger ayyapan in sivakasi, tamil nadu, india, Sridevi started her career as a child actor at the age of four in the Tamil movie Kandan Karunai in 1967 at the age of 4.

She played a goofy crime journalist in the 1987 film Mr. India, Directed by Shekhar Kapur, it became one of the highest grossing hits of the year.
The dance number ‘Hawa Hawai’, ‘Kate Nahin kat te‘ were superhits.
In 1989 came Chaalbaaz, she made Sunny Deol and Rajnikant look like sidekicks in the film.
The same year also saw the release of the Yash Chopra romantic saga Chandni, with Sridevi playing the title role which still remains a classic.
The music of Chandni became a Platinum Success with Sridevi’s famous dance number ‘Mere Hathon Mein Nau Nau Choodiyan’. The actress also lent her voice to the film’s popular title-track ‘Chandni O Meri Chandni’. After a six-year hiatus, Sridevi briefly returned to the small screen in the Sahara sitcom Malini Iyer (2004–2005).After an eight-year absence from film, Sridevi starred in English Vinglish (2012)
With the success of English Vinglish, Sridevi, most probably, became the only actress in Bollywood to make a successful comeback as a leading lady after marriage and a long hiatus.Sridevi starred in the Tamil fantasy action adventure film Puli (2015).
Sridevi was next seen in her home production titled Mom (2017), which marked her 300th film. her last on-screen appearance will be in Anand L. Rai’s upcoming film Zero (2018) in a cameo.Sridevi was regarded as the first female “superstar” of Bollywood films.Due to her pan-Indian appeal, she was considered to be one of the most popular actresses of Indian cinema. In a 2013 national poll conducted by CNN-IBN on the occasion of the centenary of Indian cinema, Sridevi was also voted “India’s Greatest Actress in 100 Years”.She was considered one of the very few Indian female superstars capable of huge box-office success without the support of a male hero. Sridevi is indeed a superstar in every aspect, she aced every movie role that she ever did with ease. My heart and prayers go out to her family especially her daughters Jhanvi and Khushi to overcome this huge loss.
Sridevi ji you were a superstar, you are a superstar and will always remain a superstar.
Your legacy will stay on forever
