Dear friends, we all love our parents and I feel that they are the most important people in our lives. Sometimes, such incidents happen that make us realize their true value.
One day I met my school friend after many years and I was very excited to see him, as we were actually meeting after such a long time. He used to be my best buddy in school.
“Hey Dude. How are you? It has been a really long time. What are you doing?” asked he.
“I am doing well and I am working as a software engineer in a MNC!” I proudly told him.
He smiled gently, “Yes brother, I knew it! Since school itself I knew that your genes are made for software”, and laughed.
I too asked him what he was doing. He replied in a low voice, “I am the owner of a franchisee in my Dad’s business. I didn’t really look up to doing this in my life, but my dad says it’s good for me. By the way, he has also bought me a BMW car last month to keep me happy.”
I was astonished to listen to him. (I don’t know why but I was shocked as I remembered that in school days, he was always average. I know how he had battled, to barely pass in exams, and now he has become rich, but still sounded so low!)
We talked for some more time, had fun and returned to our homes.
At home, thoughts were going in my mind, ‘his father provided him everything whereas I did not get that much from my parents. He is very lucky to have a rich Dad.’
After a few days, it so happened that I coincidentally met another friend who graduated with me from college. I was again very excited to meet him after a long time.
“Hi bro, how are you? What are you doing?” I asked.
He told me humbly, “I am good and you wouldn’t believe that I have started my own venture and have established it in abroad as well. So I have become an entrepreneur.” and smiled.
“That’s so cool. It’s really great! How did you do all this?” I wondered.
He explained, “As you know, when we graduated from college, you already had an offer from a MNC in your hand but I was not placed and didn’t have any job. So I was at home for some time where I helped my father in his work and mummy in household tasks. One day I went with my father to his workplace and I saw everything. How he worked hard to make an earning for us, and he has been doing it since many years.”
He continued “I realized that my father who is not that educated has struggled in his life and put all his efforts for our happiness. I could embrace his success with his hard work. Today he has made me educated so that I could get a graduate degree which he could not”
I interrupted him in between, “Yes brother, you are right. But tell me how did you achieve so much? “
He resumed, “My parents did everything for me. Actually they became my source of inspiration. My father said to me, “Son! Do what you’re best at. Do what you will love to do for the rest of your life. I am here with you and I have full faith that you will do great.”
With such motivation from him, I was able to express my thoughts to him (for which I was afraid earlier) that I wanted to start my own venture and implement my ideas into it. This is what I wished to make my career in, since a long time.
Believe me, my friend! I never stopped since that day. My parents still ask me everyday how I am doing and if I need any help. After that, it continued well with their blessings. I am really very lucky to have them.”
I kept on listening to him and was feeling very happy to hear his story. We talked more and then returned to our homes.
At home, new thoughts started running in my mind. When I met my first friend, I had completely different thoughts. Second one boosted me up and changed my thoughts – How I can learn from my parents, their guidance, their love and support. How I can utilize such precious things as tools to uplift myself.
I started realizing how my parents have nourished me since childhood. They did not get all when they were growing up, what I am getting from them now.
As I started this blog, this incident made me realize their true value. Every parent wants to provide their children with everything – all kinds of happiness and facilities.
Before ending this, I would thank God for blessing me with wonderful people called ‘PARENTS’ – as this is the best thing that could ever happen to me!
