Ego! What Is it?

It is defined as, ‘I’ or self of any person;  a person who gives himself importance.  A person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance.

‘It is your conscious mind, the part of your identity that you consider your“self”. Moreover, It is an inflated feeling of pride in your superiority to others.

It is said by Rusty Eric, “When you allow your ego to control your thoughts,  Everything you believe becomes an illusion.” It means when it starts controlling our mind then everything gets destroyed. Sometimes we find people good-natured, amiable and of good faith.

But when they achieve a big success or become wealthy, they suddenly change. They look upon others with superiority and centers themselves with pride and incognizance.  Also they think they have reached the epitome of popularity.  They stay ignorant and careless of their contacts and surroundings. They forget their stepping stone when they stand on the mountain. Finally, They turn egoistic.

We all know the fact that success, popularity, and wealth do not last forever. We do not even know of our death.

So why become egoistic, ending up bad with everyone and find oneself self-centred.

It was once said by an author, “Ego is not who you really are. It is your self-image, a social mask, and a role which you are playing. Your social mask thrives on approval. It wants control, and it is sustained by power because it lives in fear.”

My Lord, His Holiness, Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj use to always say in His congregations, “Jaisi bhi ho paristhiti, ek jaisi ho mansthiti.” It translates as, “You reach any height but keep your mind stable in every situation.” Be happy in every situation.

Albert Einstein has described Ego as “Ego= 1/Knowledge. More the knowledge, lesser the ego.

Lesser the knowledge, more the ego.”

How is Ego harmful to you?

It is the dangerous poison. It is the only requirement to destroy any relationship. So, be a great at heart, skip the ‘E’ and let it ‘Go’! Always remember, too much Ego kills your talent. It not only harms you but also it affects on your soul.

It is commonly said, “Your ego is your soul’s worst enemy.” Sometimes we find people who commit mistakes but they really don’t mean it. And I know, we are all imperfect. Everyone does mistakes, and we learn from our mistakes.

So if someone apologizes to you for their mistakes, forgive them and forget it. Don’t let your ego walk in.

It is said, “Never try to dominate the one who says sorry to you for their mistakes. Because they understand you are more important than their ego.”

So you either let your ego go or the well-wishers who stand like guardian angels.
