“When life leaves us blind, love keeps us kind” – Chester Bennington
This is one of the quotes said by “Pushing Me Away” singer Chester Bennington. It is hard to believe that he is no more with us.
20th July 2017 cannot be a happy day for Chester’s fans. Chester on this date at around 9:00 am was found dead at his estate and his body was discovered hanging in his house by his housekeeper at Los Angeles. Chester apparently committed suicide by hanging himself.

If we believe his friends and spokespersons, then the reason for his suicide can be depression. Bennington was close to Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, who also died of suicide in a similar manner. Tragically, Bennington committed suicide on what would have been Cornell’s birthday. Cornell was born on July 20, 1964.
Chester Bennington was a renowned songwriter, musician and singer. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, USA on March 20, 1976. His mother was a nurse and his father was a police detective. When Bennington was 11 years old, his parents divorced each other and his custody was given to his father.
After the divorce, Chester slowly got into the dreadful world of drugs and got addicted to it. He eventually overcame his addiction to drugs.
Chester initially worked at Burger King before starting a career in music. He first began singing with a band called ‘Sean Dowdell and His Friends‘. Later, Sean Dowdell and Bennington went on to form a new band called, ‘Grey Daze‘ but after that Bennington chose to leave the band.
Frustrated with not being able to find another appropriate band to collaborate with, he was about to quit his career in music , when, Jeff Blue, the vice president of A&R at Zomba Music in LA offered him an audition. But after that he had to face rejections.
Then Jeff Blue again helped him by signing with Warner Bros. Records! On October 24, 2000, Linkin Park released their debut album, “Hybrid Theory” through Warner Bros. Bennington co-founded another band, ‘Death by Sunrise’ with Orgy, Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck.
In February 2013, Stone Temple Pilots recruited Bennington to replace Weiland. On May 18, 2013 he performed with them on the stage.
Bennington in an interview revealed that he had suffered sexual abuse from an older male friend when he was just 7 years old and he was afraid to ask for help because he didn’t want to be framed as a gay or as a liar. This abuse continued till he turned 13. The abuse and the divorce of his parents affected him so much that he felt the urge to kill people and run away. In order to come out from all that he drew pictures and wrote poetry and songs.
Bennington was also a tattoo enthusiast. He had done work and promotions with Club Tattoo.
If we talk about his marriage and family, he had his first son with his former girlfriend, Elka Brand. Their son is named Jamie. Chester even adopted Brand’s son Isiah. Then after their split up, Chester married Samantha Marie Olit in April 1996. He had a son with her named, Draven Sebastian Bennington. In 2005, Chester broke up with Samantha. In the same year he tied the knot with Talinda Ann Bennington. And they had three children together; twin daughters named, Lila and Lily and one son named Tyler.
Linkin Park’s main member Chester had released many hit songs. “Numb”,” Somewhere I Belong “from the album Meteora; “Crawling”,”In The End” from the album Hybrid Theory; “Given Up” from the album Minutes To Midnight; “War” from the album The Hunting Party are some of his releases.
Here are the few lines from one of his poetry piece named, ‘A CALL TO ARMS‘
Death breeds only dying…
We always have a choice…
Peace won’t stop our crying…
But tears will stay have a voice…
We may always disagree…
But questions long for answers…
He will always be in our memories. He will always be alive in his songs. Linkin Park will be incomplete without Chester. He will live in the hearts of all- forever.
May god give peace to his soul!
